My Teaching Framework and Philosophy: Understand → Remember → Apply

Too many students believe they're "just not good at math."

In reality, most students have never had the opportunity to learn in a way that truly makes sense. Schools often move quickly through material, leaving knowledge gaps behind. Over time, those small gaps grow into frustration, lower confidence, and the feeling that math is simply too difficult.

My teaching framework is built around changing that.

1. Understand

Memorizing formulas isn't enough.

Every lesson begins by breaking complex ideas into simple, logical steps that students can actually understand. Instead of asking students to remember what to do, I teach them why it works. Once a concept "clicks," learning becomes much easier.

2. Remember

Understanding is only the beginning.

I use visual examples, memorable patterns, real-world connections, and problem-solving strategies that help students retain what they learn long after the lesson ends. My goal isn't just helping students pass tomorrow's quiz—it's helping them build knowledge they can use throughout high school, college, and standardized tests like the SAT and ACT.

3. Apply

True learning happens when students can solve problems independently.

During each lesson, students practice applying concepts to different types of questions, learning how to recognize patterns instead of relying on memorized steps. This develops critical thinking, confidence, and the ability to tackle unfamiliar problems without feeling overwhelmed.

When students move through this process—Understand → Remember → Apply—they don't just improve their grades. They become confident learners who know how to think through challenges on their own.

Because great tutoring isn't about giving students answers.

It's about giving them the skills to find the answers themselves.
